Anna Trashes The Dress…

I recently had a wonderful shoot with Anna from Milwaukee. Anna has been married just shy of a year, and wanted to get creative with her gorgeous gown in an unconventional way. I think we got some beautiful images! Much thanks to Anna and Jenny, Anna’s maid of honor who truly deserves her title after all her help today!

And for my very favorite shot so far…

Trash the dress shoots are so much fun. 🙂 Thanks again, Anna!

Baby D

A short while ago, I had the privilege of meeting little baby D.  This little sweetie was born on June 8th and was just a joy to photograph!  I thought I’d share a few here.  Thanks to this beautiful little boy’s family for letting me photograph my first newborn!

Mariah’s TTD Take II

Well, since we didn’t get to be at the Dog Fest today, Mariah and I decided to take her trashed dress out for round two. It was nice and wet outside (obviously- we got rained out, see previous post!). This session made the whole day a little less of a wash… I think we got some even better shots this time!

Heidi’s Lovely Portrait Shoot

Today my good girl buddy Heidi and I spent a few hours roaming around the gorgeous campus of the company we work for, Epic, and downtown Madison. We had a blast, and we got some gorgeous shots of beautiful Heidi!

Campaign For Real Life!

Only YOU can prevent lifeless photography!

When you decide to have a professional portrait done, there are two avenues you can choose from: the quick and cheap conventional studio chain, or a more customized approach from an independent studio or photographer. The quick studio option, such as a department store portrait studio, might seem like the easiest route to most people. The backdrops are basic, the print packages are affordable, and you can schedule the appointment while you’re doing your usual shopping. But let’s be honest- what happens with those posed, lifeless portraits? How many of us have more than one large envelope from one of those studios–with multiple sizes of prints peeking through the front window–laying around the house somewhere? Have we done more than frame one of the 5×7’s and stuck it on a dresser or an office desk? Are there large, beautiful canvases of those prints displayed proudly over our couches? Or 20×24 framed prints gracing the entryways to our homes? Did the $150 that we spent on those canned studio posed portraits really end up being worth it?

An amazing photographer friend of mine has begun a campaign to promote photography that reflects real life, real emotions, real people- just like you!

Professional portrait photography is taking a turn for the real- it’s becoming less posed, more personal, and more reflective of the true personalities of individuals and families. I am one of many photographers attempting to capture this new spirit of portraiture. Please visit my colleagues in this effort by clicking on the links to my photographer friends’ websites, and check out the Campaign For Real Life!

If you are inspired, TAKE THE PLEDGE!
